Sanborn Hill Farm Wedding Venue - Sanbornville, NH

Sanborn Hill Farm wedding venue

I visited Sanborn Hill Farm on a bright, sunny Spring day and the trip proved to be very worthwhile. I was given a tour by Geoff Denley, one of the owners, and he filled me in on many details that helped bring added character to the space. Growing up on the property, Geoff was very knowledgeable about the history surrounding the farm and its place in the community. During our talk, it was easy to see his passion and dedication to bringing the best to couples’ wedding days.

The barn is situated on 175 acres of land that really make it feel pulled away from the rest of the world. Sprawling fields of green meet a dense collection of trees along the border providing an ample backdrop to your special day. Ceremonies are typically held outdoors behind the barn and can seat 200 guests on handmade farm benches. Inside, the two story barn is warm and inviting. Holding upwards of 250 guests comfortably, the space combines modern amenities with classic tradition.

The barn itself is not nearly as old as its design would have you believe. Built roughly thirty years ago to replace the original barn, which unfortunately was lost to a fire, the building seems perfectly at home just as its predecessor did centuries ago. The entire thing is constructed using the traditional timber-frame method. Geoff excitedly told me that not a single nail was used in the construction of the barn, that it’s entirely held together using wooden pegs. A few other details he was especially proud of were the restrooms that are housed in the recently added addition and the custom made beer taps crafted by a close friend - the latter being a small but important touch that brings an extra bit of personality.

There is a great openness felt as you walk around the interior. The layout provides ample opportunity to mingle with guests and enjoy the celebration without feeling cramped. The door to the barn faces west which means it offers a great perspective on those colorful New England sunsets. Beautiful, rustic farm tables, built by Geoff and his friends, carry on the traditional look. Not a single thing clashes here - every piece belongs and fills a gap that would otherwise seem necessary. Bookings include venue lighting as well as chairs and tables to accommodate two hundred people.

I think barn venues are amazing for so many reasons. They offer old world charm with modern comforts. They have very unique touches that make them all different from each other. Lastly, at least to me, they represent the ideals of hard work and dedication - two cornerstones of a healthy marriage. If you’re looking for an amazing place to share your special moment with family and friends I would highly suggest checking out Sanborn Hill Farm at www.facebook.com/sanbornhillfarm.
