What To Place In Your Emergency Wedding Kit

While it’s nice to think that every wedding goes down exactly as planned, from time to time something unexpected is thrown into the mix. For those of you who want to be doubly prepared for anything that could potentially cause some stress or nerves on your big day look through the list below. In it, you’ll find lots of things to keep on hand that can help ensure the day goes down according to plan.

Emergency Wedding Kit

  1. Mini sewing kit - With needles, thread (white, black, and colors matching the wedding attire), safety pins and scissors for quick clothing repairs. I carry one of these in my camera bag just in case a seam rips before the ceremony.

  2. Stain remover pen - To tackle accidental spills or stains on dresses or suits. I’m often amazed at the amount of food left next to suits and tuxes in crammed little rooms filled with a dozen people running around. Better to be on the safe side and have these ready to go.

  3. Double-sided tape - For securing hems, preventing wardrobe malfunctions or fixing loose straps.

  4. Pain relievers and medications - Aspirin, antacids, allergy medicine and any prescription medications needed by the couple or close family members. Weddings can get chaotic and you need a healthy body and mind to get through them in one piece.

  5. Bandages - To deal with minor cuts or blisters from uncomfortable shoes.

  6. Breath mints and deodorant - Let’s be honest, we can all use a little freshening throughout the day.

  7. Tissues - This might be for tears of joy or seasonal allergies, both situations require some attention.

  8. Bobby pins and hair accessories - To fix hair or manage unexpected hair issues.

  9. Clear nail polish - Can be used to stop runs in stockings or secure loose buttons.

  10. Hairbrush or comb - For quick touch-ups.

  11. Safety pins - Useful for various clothing adjustments.

  12. Portable steamer or wrinkle release spray - For last-minute clothing wrinkles on your dress, suit or tux. This is worth its weight in gold when it comes to your photos.

  13. Scotch tape and super glue - Handy for various quick fixes.

  14. Earring backs - In case they go missing, come on, you know they will.

  15. Small makeup kit - Including lipstick, powder, concealer and other essentials for touch-ups (especially if you’re not using waterproof makeup).

  16. Sunscreen and/or bug spray - If any part of the wedding is outdoors, even for a short time, this can really come in handy. It can be difficult enough to wrangle thirty people for a group photo without having to swat away bugs the whole time.

  17. Snacks and water - Energy bars or light snacks to keep the couple and the wedding party going throughout the festivities.

  18. Phone charger - To ensure you have enough battery power for photos during the reception.

  19. List of important contacts - Including vendors, wedding planner/coordinator and family members in case of emergencies. Make sure you share this list with a few different people just in case.

  20. Emergency cash - Small bills for unforeseen expenses.

  21. Wedding vows or speeches - Printed copies in case someone forgets theirs. Again, lots of moving parts on a wedding day so it’s best to plan for anything.

Some of the things on this list may not pertain to your wedding plans but it’s still a good idea to look through and use it as a guide. If you have any other ideas please leave them in the comments to help those who come after you.
